Lillasyster tipsade mig om en fototävling där temat är ”Svartvitt utan saknad av färg”. D.v.s. en bild som gör sig bättre i svartvitt än i färg. Eftersom jag nästan uteslutet tar bilder i svartvitt så tänkte jag vara med på ett hörn.

De-stress...
Systers fotoutmaning tar ett litet uppehåll över jul och nyår och temat denna vecka är därför just paus! Mitt i all denna stress över alla julklappar som ska inhandlas, släktmiddagar och annat som brukar höra julen till så är det viktigt att stanna upp och andas en smula. Vad spelar det för roll om inte julen blir perfekt? Ibland är det ju just det som faktiskt gör den perfekt...Vår jul blir mycket lugn med god mat, massor av tomtar och många julkramar.

Julig helg...
Nu så är både vardagsrum och hall redo för jul. Endast kök och sovrum väntar på att bli tomtefierade...
Vi har t.o.m. inhandlat gran. Vi köpte en i kruka så att den inte hinner krokna och vissna innan julen inträffar!

Mono!
It's been raining, raining and raining lately...Was planning a little day trip today (as my camera hasn't had an outing for a while) but the weather put an end to that. Gale force winds and hail today. Wonderful! But I suppose I got a lot of necessary, boring stuff done instead (like cleaning and washing). Oh...and we DID sneak out for a lovely lunch at Nando's so the day wasn't a total washout!

Apropå belysning...
Belysning är veckans Tisdagstema och det behövs det mer av nu då det hunnit bli kolsvart då det är dags att traska hem från jobbet...Jag antar att det sparas på energi för hur ska man annars förklara att endast varannan gatlampa är tänd och att de som lyser är nedskruvade så att man ändå inte ser vart man går?
Ja-Om man inte är stadig på benen (p.g.a. risken att snubbla på våra knöliga trottoarer) ska man nog hålla sig inne efter klockan fem...;)

After several weeks of no rain, the heavens have opened and it's chucking it down! Therefore my contribution this week is taken from the safety of my balcony doors! The spider obviously found a dry spot in which to weave his intricate web!

Last night...
Systers tema i veckans Fotoutmaning är Halloween...
Vi firade med pumpor, blev besökta av mer eller mindre skräckinjagande dörrknackare (som fick godis för besväret) och avslutade kvällen med en skräckfilm; "Drag me to Hell". En ganska traditionell Halloween-afton alltså- åtminstone här borta!

Då jag var hem till min lilla hemby i Sverige och hälsade på i Maj fann jag detta budskap uppklistrat på ett elskåp...Det inger hopp!

We went on a daytrip to Shere- apparently one of the most photographed villages in Surrey due to its picturesque (and OLD) buildings and authentic village feel...
The beautiful 13th Century church provided me with plenty of camera opportunities, but my pick for Monochrome Weekly is this; The Millennium Stone with an inscription of "John Wesley's rule" carved around it.
Whether you're religious or not- I believe it's a wonderful rule to try and live by!

I find it astonishing the amount of wildlife there is to witness- even though we're not far from London itself...
This cheeky squirrel is a regular visitor to our balcony-and his favourite spot is right in the middle of our table (where he sits for a good hour in the morning sunning himself)!

Monochrome Weekly....
Yesterday was spent at the top of Box Hill. The sun was shining and provided absolutely stunning views over the South Downs. We stumbled across an old fort built in the 1890's to protect London from possible European invasions...but fortunately it was never used...!
We also discovered this headstone in the middle of one of the paths at the top of the hill:
Major Labelliere apparently left instructions that on his death he was to be buried upside down on Box Hill, claiming that the world was topsy-turvy and he wanted to be right in the end...

There's been a distinct lack of mono photo opportunities this weekend (well- I've been busy taking pictures but for some reason I preferred them all in colour!), so therefore I'll contribute with another one from Winchester a few weeks ago. This is from inside the cathedral itself and the man gazing up at the saints is my very own! :)

Temat i Systers Fotoutmaning är "I spy...". D.v.s. något som man ser varje dag som fångar ögat...
Den här vyn ser jag varje dag då jag går till jobbet...och allldeles före nio är det nästan folktomt. Det är Themsen alldeles bredvid min arbetsplats och det är en av de vackraste platser jag vet!
Det här är vägen längs floden i Februari då vi faktiskt hade snö för en gångs skull!

White Doves...
We've had glorious sunshine all weekend and have spent our time doing not very much at all!
We did however take a leisurely walk round the village yesterday. Looking up- I spotted these two gorgeous white doves chatting away at each other at the top of a lamp post...
Made my day!
